How to Survive Long Haul Flights
We can just admit it. Long haul flights are the WORST, but unfortunately they are necessary sometimes. Maybe you’re like me and also have a tough time sleeping on planes! I’ve found a pretty good system of how to manage these 5+ hour long flights, and not have a terrible first day of vacation. The main thing I can say is water, water, WATER! Flying is very dehydrating, so it’s important to start drinking extra water a couple of days before your flight, and drink as much as you can on the flight! Electrolytes will also be your friend. These are my favorites. It’s also helpful to moisturize before flying.
To be more comfortable during the flight, I always bring a neck pillow to use, and I use the provided pillow behind my back! For packing, I love using my backpack as a footrest and prop my feet up. In a small but mighty way, using your own ear buds can be a make or break for the flight. It’s so much better to fall asleep watching Crazy Rich Asians with noise cancellation! This gadget will make your day. It will connect the plane tv to your earbuds via bluetooth, so you won’t have to listen to the crying baby 5 rows back.
If your flight is 5 or more hours, it is highly recommended to wear compression socks to help the blood circulation in your legs. Have you ever gotten off of a flight and had swollen ankles? This will help!
It’s also just really boring to sit somewhere for a seemingly endless amount of time, even with movies. I have started bringing crafts! I love passing the time with a coloring book or something similar.
